LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

April 1, 2012

My dearest,

You tell me you are craving Thai tonight. Something decent, something not too far. We ask around and get a few names. We decide to try a few places. You know pretty much what you want — a spicy pomelo salad, a mango-and-cashew salad and a piquant fried fish. I add a seafood tomyam and we’re done.

We eat and we eat, hungry and happily enticed by the most appetizing flavours.

It’s quite spicy, I say when we are finally done, not knowing you left all the cili padi in the pomelo salad for me.

I’m sipping on my lemongrass tea when I notice you stirring your huge glass of lychee watermelon juice. You are stirring and stirring and watching the movements so closely. And me watching you. Happily enticed by the most adorable fellow.

Why do they call it April Fool’s Day? Goodness knows we are all fools, every day. And very happily so.

Yours, ever and always.
