LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

Perhaps it’s insomnia. Perhaps it’s residual jetlag from our recent travels. But I haven’t been able to sleep well of late. You would think the girls at our favourite café would be distressed at the thought of me not able to enjoy their carefully brewed coffee in the evenings, but they always have an answer.

Drop dried lavender buds into a jug of cold milk. Heat it up over a fire, stirring slowly till the flowers are rejuvenated and release their heady fragrance. Remove from the heat, pump lightly with a manual steam wand to foam the milk, pour into a clean white mug.

Lavender milk.

I have, not one, but two mugs and sleep like a baby. Like you, baby.

Yours, ever and always.
