LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

It’s been a long time since we stayed at a hotel just for the heck of it. Not for a trip this; we haven’t travelled anywhere — we’re still in the city. Why ever not?

So we check in. It’s a nice, large room. The rain shower is amazing, the heat and the pressure. We have dinner and then head out to our favourite café. The folks at the café greet us happily; they’re going off on a trip to Sumatra the next day, to learn more about coffee and to bring some good ones back. We chat with them and we discuss what coffee to order. We are given an impromptu lesson on sprouting coffee beans; we ogle little green coffee plants growing in a wide, flat pot. The evening lights are golden and it’s drizzling slowly outside.

We leave the café and wish the crew a safe journey. We get back to our hotel room and we shower. We get into bed and we watch a couple episodes of ‘Terra Nova’. And then it’s time for bed. The pillows are huge and soft. We sink into them happily, our arms crossing one another, and we say goodnight.

Yours, ever and always.
