LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

We dropped by a DVD shop last night after dinner with friends. They were embarking on a Harry Potter movie marathon (all eight films in a row!) while I wanted to look for another dinosaur movie after we had a really good time watching “Jurassic Park III” the night before.

Instead of velociraptors, I found a movie about witches we missed catching when it came out in the theatres. Lots of fantasy and magic: your favourite sort, I thought. Once home we snuggled up in bed, my laptop on a cushion between our legs. No popcorn, just our heads against each other.

The movie was awful, I thought. You had a better opinion of it. It was entertainment; it didn’t really need to be any good. We laughed at the bad bits of dialogue together. And when the movie was done, you read a novel on your iPhone while I flipped through a comic.

It was one of the best date nights ever.

Yours, ever and always.
