My dearest,

Landing at the airport, I see a Siam Commercial Bank advert plastered across a roller staircase. In my Uber to Central Ladphrao to meet you for dinner, I spot a Café Amazon. When we get off our train at the Thai Cultural Centre MRT station, I see Nadech’s handsome mug everywhere, grinning and posing with the smartphone he’s the ambassador for.

All these familiar names and faces and brands. Returning to Bangkok feels like coming home. Every time I recognise something it’s as though I’m being greeted with a welcome.

But all that fades away; there is always one better.

Seeing you, baby, is the best welcome I could ask for.
