My dearest,

We have an amazing life. Why aren’t I celebrating it more? You remind me to do just that, every day with every tiny detail.

When you head to Kinokuniya at Siam Paragon, after dinner at the Hong Kong Wonton Noodles and Congee restaurant, you tell me you find the 11th volume of Kindaichi 37. I take a picture of your shelf filled with manga, and tell you that you are correct: you already have the first 10 volumes.

Doing this small helpful act fills me with more joy and pride than I might realise.

Remembering that you told me you packed your poncho this morning – you taught me how the Thais would pronounce the word – and still asking you if you had it when you told me it started raining as you were leaving Siam: this is me being nagging, perhaps, or too much of a helicopter parent like my Mum and Dad.

But it’s how I show my love, how I show I care, and I don’t even realise this at times.

By offering me these small opportunities to be part of your life more and more, you remind me how amazing our life is, how mundane and majestic in equal measure. So, yes, I shall celebrate us more from now on – we must, every precious moment.
