LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

You tell me you’re not really that into the Bourne movies. That’s okay, I say. I’ll watch the latest on my own. And it does feel odd, watching a movie by myself, when we usually catch them together. I haven’t done this in a long time. To walk into the cinema alone, find your seat, no idle chatter (because there’s no one to talk to, not when your neighbour is busily necking his girlfriend), no popcorn (I really dislike munchies while watching a movie), etc. — it feels odd, yes, but also refreshing. Liberating, almost.

I’m alone and this is a precious space and time that I get to enjoy… myself.

A couple of hours or so later, I walk out of the cinema. I send you a text message to say I’m done. You reply, asking me how the movie was. I tell you I liked it. And that’s the best part, that I get this moment to myself but I also get to share it with you after.

Life is (and this bears repeating over and over) very good indeed.

Yours, ever and always.
