LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

Some people love blueberry pancakes. Others, like myself, adore dàn bǐng, the Taiwanese version of a breakfast burrito (only better).

You like crêpes.

What could be simpler? A thin batter and a hot griddle, some toppings.

You don’t need the fancy stuff: No flambéed crêpes Suzette for you. (Too much of a performance and fire risk.) No savoury galettes stuffed to the gills with ham and cheese. (Too much, quite simply.)

No, all you desire is a simple crêpe with a smear of peanut butter. Maybe more than just a smear. A bit more. Just a bit more. Empty the whole bottle, why not?

Some sliced bananas would be nice too, but they are an afterthought. You don’t ask for much. You have quiet tastes.

Just a bit of peanut butter, well, just a little bit more.

May I have some too?

Yours, ever and always.
