LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

April 1, 2019

My dearest,

It’s all about the coffee, apparently.

Yesterday we revived ourselves from our long flight (KUL->AMS) with numerous cups: the blond roast at Starbucks Damrak; the a cloudy flat white at Quartier Putain (saved by a lovely croissant hot out of the oven); another flat white at Rapha, where we sat amongst cyclist and riding gear, nursing our coffee and a far too sweet passion fruit tart; the disappointing Ethiopia filter brew at EspressoFabriek…

But what truly lifted our spirits were the roast duck rice at Golden Chopsticks, your go-to Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam. Cantonese cuisine is fuel, is manna for the travelling soul. And you the best travelling companion one could hope for.

We walk beneath cherry blossoms at Westerpark, which made up for the lacklustre coffees earlier and us not getting your favourite Vlaamse Frites.

We both slept better on this second flight (AMS->EZE) and before we knew it, we have landed in Buenos Aires. A taxi ride later, we have checked in our hotel and showered, and now we are an Argentinian coffee shop for their all-day breakfast, not entirely sure if it’s even morning.

It doesn’t matter. It is the Fool’s Day today and we are both happy fools on the road.

We are adventurers, after all, and you the best companion one could hope for, in this journey of life, on this road we walk together.

Yours, ever and always.
