LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

We’ll skip work today. It’s only Tuesday. Grab a wicker basket and some nice cotton cloth to cover it the way Little Red Riding Hood must have, before taking those tasty treats to her grandmother. What tasty treats shall we bring? Pots of strawberry and raspberry preserves? Clotted cream and freshly baked scones? Or go local with banana-leaf-and-newspaper-wrapped packets of nasi lemak and some extra “garinggoreng pisang instead? Maybe have it both ways?

We’ll find us a public park or a secret beach, somewhere we can flap open our giant picnic tablecloth, whether on the grass or on the sand. We’ll sit down and empty our basket and feat on its contents. Maybe a flute of champagne or two? Why not be decadent? We’re already being naughty after all, not being in office, not answering calls.

It’s a good day to be a little crazy, a little flaky, a little to-heck-with-it-all-let’s-enjoy-ourselves-right-now-why-don’t-we, don’t you agree?

Yours, ever and always.
