LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

We are having dinner at a fine Thai restaurant, when we are served an appetiser of steamed newly harvested hom mali rice stuffed with Mae Klong mackerel. The perfume of aromatic herbs and luxurious Thai Royal Project caviar complete the dish.

Local lore has it that this pairing of freshly harvested rice and savoury mackerel is akin to a newly married couple.

I turn to you, looking adoringly into your eyes, and whisper, “To me, you’ll always be old rice.”

You don’t seem amused until I add, “Better than the fresh stuff.”

I’m always good with a save, no?

Yours, ever and always.
