My dearest,
The end of the day is when I get a text message from you. And then I get to hit the SLEEP button on my laptop, close the lid and put it into its bag. I roll up the battery charger, the mouse, and in those go too. I leave the café where I’ve been waiting at and head to our usual spot, just outside the Starbucks. It’s next to the street so I almost always see you when you walk over to me but not always. Sometimes you surprise me. Either way, there’s a nod, ho-hum, and we start discussing (arguing) about where to go for dinner.
The end of the day for us is another beginning. It could be an adventure. What do we eat? What time do we get home? We shower, brush our teeth, boil fresh water. We read our books in bed. Kiss each other goodnight. Sweet dreams.
Yours, ever and always.
