LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

My dearest,

I joke that I’ve been to this washroom, the one closest to the ENT department, more often than I’ve been to any others at our favourite mall or at my gym.

I joke to mask my concern, that you’ve been coming to the hospital too often, even if for minor ailments. Maybe it’s the air, the unhealthy environment in this city. There’s no avoiding it; it’s the price we pay for urban living.

I joke, and you smile back. This is a blessing, that we can still find humour in times of worry and of uncertainty. For after my joke, ill-witted as it is, I also tell you that we are a team. I remind you — and me — that we’re in this together.

We are a team and we’ll share jokes to last us a lifetime.

Yours, ever and always.
