“How was your day, dear?”

• • •

October 3, 2016

Hey you,

How was your day, dear? I ask this not knowing the answer. It could be good; it could be not so good.

How was your day, dear? I ask this half-guessing, half-dreading. I hope it’s good because a bad day for you shatters me too. This is what happens when you’ve been years together.

Your day is your day; my day is mine. We share the joy of our separate days though, and the joylessness too.

We take our chances; good days and bad. The chance is the surprise is the why of our lives.

Yours always and always,
