LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

August 8, 2019

My dearest,

The gerberas have wilted.

Their orange petals and golden hearts are still vibrant but their hollow stems can’t take the weight of their heads. You tell me to throw them away today. And I will, in a bit.

For now I take their colours and slender forms in, the tiny hairs on the green stems, the matte lustre on their petals, and I remember how delighted you were when you first bought them.

There is no sadness in throwing them away for you remind me we will buy more this weekend. We will have flowers in our life, and colour, and delight.

Yours, ever and always.
