My dearest,

As I cleared our personal belongings from our old car today, I made sure to retrieve Xiao Long Long first. Our red and gold CNY plush toy, our Little Dragon. Who would have thought a single object could carry so many memories – our first Lunar New Year celebrations together, the songs and the 24 seasons drums, the bunches of pussy willow in the back seat, the hunt for our favourite bakkwa and pineapple tarts, the red packets and the red clothes…

Yes, our Little Dragon is a reminder of so much of our life together, specific scenes and forgotten feelings. We are not our stuff, they say, but our stuff can be so much of us, of who we are.

I will keep our Little Dragon safe till you come home and can press him to your heart again.
