LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

November 9, 2019

My dearest,

We had slept for nine hours. What a blessing it is not to use our alarm clocks on weekends.

I haven’t been in the best of moods. The plumber is back for further repairs despite having changed the pump. Not speaking Thai doesn’t help matters.

You teach me what a small problem this is: you took over matters late last night when I was grumpy and frustrated. How I love you so.

Today we go for a hairy crab lunch at Silk Road – your love of these seasonal crustaceans is eternal – and we have dinner at Arroz, where the familiar taste of the paellas and the friendly maître d’ never fail to cheer me up.

In between our meals, we return home for a bit of rest. It’s amazing how quickly we fall asleep, even for a mere 15-minute nap.

You say we are old men, and maybe that is true. And that’s okay because we are old men together, you and me. What a blessing that is.

Yours, ever and always.
