LOVE FOR BEGINNERS // 情書

November 30, 2019

My dearest,

So my workout buddy and I are having dim sum for brunch after a gruelling hour or two at the gym. We started talking about relationships, because that’s what you do after sweating and huffing together in a semi-public area.

He tells me there are plenty of wonderful women out there but sometimes it’s just easier being single. Less hassle, more freedom. The usual spiel.

We’ve all heard this before.

I tell him I understand. I agree. Absolutely.

He nods, satisfied with my answer, then pauses. Wait, but you’re married. You’ve been in a relationship for almost 12 years now.

I tell him I know.

He looks at me, curious: And…?

I smile. And I tell my young friend that you are the one person makes it better than being single.

Yours, ever and always.
